Something Different for Lunch at Civic Center Eats
Civic Center Park is perhaps the civic and cultural heart of Denver.
For the past eleven years, an eclectic group of gourmet food trucks gathers here at lunchtime to offer diverse food options to workers, nearby residents and visitors. This year, there are about 80 vendors, operating on a rotating schedule. Civic Center Eats occurs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Proceeds help support Civic Center Park revitalization.
Part of the fun is strolling the length of the assembled food trucks, checking out their menus and admiring the artistic displays on each of the colorful trucks. There is a wide variety of cultures and food represented, including Asian, African, Latin, Mediterranean, and of course, BBQ, ice cream and cupcakes.
Umbrella-covered tables line the walkways, so that while eating in the welcome shade, you can people watch and listen to live music. Or, you can contemplate which truck has the cleverest name. Some favorites? Hamburghini, R U Cereal?, Ba-Nom-a-Nom, Church of Cupcakes, and Bao Chicka Bao Bao!
