Cobblers Corner
2440 W 44th Ave. Denver, CO 80211
EVERY BUILDING TELLS A STORY
In the late 1920s, Thomas and Catherine Pottle opened the Alcott Shoe Shop, where for more than three decades they repaired shoes and hand-tooled leather and wood crafts. Along with a creamery, a bakery, and other small neighborhood businesses, this corner thrived as a place where neighbors gathered and businesses prospered. Prior to redevelopment, the building served as the Germinal Stage Theatre for over two decades. The original structure was demised back into small retail units, and two new buildings were added to create a retail hub built around a community courtyard.
